My husband and I own a very small business (for only about a year now). We have never had a need for security cameras and never really looked into them. A few weeks ago we had to fire someone for the first time and the next day we found out someone was doing doughnuts in our parking lot. Nothing was damaged, but nonetheless it made us realize we are probably to that point in our business we should have some security. Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg and not needing anything real crazy we ordered this camera system. It was easy to set up, easy to install and is easy to operate. It works perfectly for what we need it to do and we haven't have any issues yet. We have only gotten around to setting up 2 cameras outdoors so far because we haven't decided the ... full review
Most security cameras simply send you a notification when they detect any type of activity. Others can identify who—or what—is causing the commotion. The Nest Cam IQ and Nest Cam IQ Outdoor offer face-recognition technology, for instance. They automatically zoom in on people who enter the field of view, and send alerts when a face is recognized (they also tell you when an unrecognized face is spotted). These technologies help eliminate needless alerts.
You can't really fault this system for the money. Yes the instruction book isn't the best and there's a bit of trial and error setting it up but not much to it really if you apply a bit of logic. I had a spare Sunday to install it so it'll take you a day really with most time spent providing holes for wires!!. You'll need 22mm holes in walls, door frames etc to get the camera connector through which is quite big but easy filled to make good. The unit is small enough to hide away. The cameras are metal and have a solid pro feel to them with good waterproofing connectors. They are also very clear for home security and the night vision auto kicks in at dusk and easily lights up the viewing area. The 75 degree viewing angle is excellent too. I've set mine to motion detection ... full review
Now that you’re ready to begin purchasing a system, it’s time to determine the type and number of cameras, sensors, detectors and alarms you’ll need. There are basic alarm systems that include door sensors, window sensors and a keypad to control arming and disarming. For properties that have more square footage and openings to cover, a smart security system with wireless doorbell cameras, spy cameras, motion sensors, and multiple door and window alarms can all be controlled remotely via your smartphone or tablet, allowing you to keep an eye on things from anywhere, especially when you’re not home. To cover all your bases, be sure to look into driveway alarms, voice recorders, water leak detectors and pool door alarms.
We recommend that all businesses large or small, choose to go with a PC based digital video recorder. One of the best reasons to go with a PC based dvr is the amount of customizable options you have to control your security cameras. The PC platform is very user-friendly and offers the best platform software. Some of the options you have are the ability to remote connect and have complete control over your CCTV system, from anywhere in the world. With this option you can study your operation and find better ways to make it more efficient. The ease of being able to record video to a CD remotely means you can passively and quietly run your business with anyone knowing what is going on. Secondly, you can put up to 7 tera-bytes of hard drives in this machines, which will let you back up video for a few months. This is great, because you can pick a day to go through all the events of certain hours in the day and make the changes you need to achieve better economies of scale. Last, you can expand and have more room to grow integrating more cameras. Standalone dvrs, do not give you the ability to adapt to handle more cameras if you needed. With the right upgrades to your PC's internal circuits you can easily add more cards to the platform. At Security Camera Warehouse we can offer an upgrade price within and outside our warranty support. If you are running a business and you need help managing your employees, inventory, or potential dangerous from guest, contractors, and or vandals, look into investing in a CCTV system. Excellent product, great quality images, easy to set up and superb after sales support if needed. I bought the system after my father was scammed by a bogus builder I now feel far more secure that with this system in plain view and recording 27/7 my dads home will not be a target for such criminals again, and the very reasonable cost was a small price to pay for such peace of mind.
The specific type of software that is being used also has a role to play on its price. On average, professional level software is offered at US$75, with some of them requiring annual fees for membership. Network attached storage or DVR, used for storing recorded video, will also be part of the cost. On average, that can cost about US$499. This will depend on the storage capacity and other features of the device chosen by the user.

In Sweden, the use of CCTV in public spaces is nationally regulated; requiring permits for any operator (incl. Swedish Police Authority) to install CCTV in public spaces. In an opinion poll commissioned by Lund University in August 2017, the general public of Sweden were asked to choose one measure that would ensure their need for privacy when subject to CCTV-operation in public spaces. 43% favored regulation in the form of clear routines for managing, storing and distributing image material generated from surveillance cameras, 39% favored regulation in the form of clear signage informing that camera surveillance in public spaces is present, 2% favored regulation in the form of having permits restricting the use of surveillance cameras during certain times of day/week, 10% favored regulation in the form of having restrictive policies for issuing permits for surveillance cameras in public spaces. 6% were unsure or did not know.[107]
Most security cameras use Wi-Fi, but not all rely on it exclusively. Some add Bluetooth for local control and easier setup through your smartphone, while others incorporate separate home automation networking standards to interact with other devices, like Zigbee or Z-Wave. For most cameras, all you need to do is follow instructions on an app to connect them to your home network.

Monitoring at night is one of the most common uses for outdoor surveillance cameras, and in order to get a high-quality image, you’ll want to purchase a camera with infrared (IR) technology. Many models have a built-in IR cut-switch that automatically enables and disables the infrared technology depending on the lighting conditions. The number of infrared LEDs used in a camera will help determine how far of a night vision range a camera has.
The local Lenoir, North Carolina crime index is 157, compared to the national crime index risk score of 100. Scores are based on demographic and geographic analyses crime over seven years. This could be higher in some parts of North Carolina—home security systems save money and lives.
Closed-circuit television was used as a form of pay-per-view theatre television for sports such as professional boxing and professional wrestling. Boxing telecasts were broadcast live to a select number of venues, mostly theaters, where viewers paid for tickets to watch the fight live.[17][18] The first fight with a closed-circuit telecast was Joe Louis vs. Joe Walcott in 1948.[19] Closed-circuit telecasts peaked in popularity with Muhammad Ali in the 1960s and 1970s,[17][18] with "The Rumble in the Jungle" fight drawing 50 million CCTV viewers worldwide in 1974,[20] and the "Thrilla in Manila" drawing 100 million CCTV viewers worldwide in 1975.[21] Closed-circuit television was gradually replaced by pay-per-view home cable television in the 1980s and 1990s.[18]
Another consideration is the number of cameras in your surveillance camera system. The more devices on the network, the more data they’ll use. If you have caps on your internet data usage, make sure you understand how your security camera(s) could impact your monthly bill. You should also verify that your router can handle the extra devices and output—especially if you plan on using wireless security cameras.

In industrial plants, CCTV equipment may be used to observe parts of a process from a central control room, for example when the environment is not suitable for humans. CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event. A more advanced form of CCTV, utilizing digital video recorders (DVRs), provides recording for possibly many years, with a variety of quality and performance options and extra features (such as motion detection and email alerts). More recently, decentralized IP cameras, some equipped with megapixel sensors, support recording directly to network-attached storage devices, or internal flash for completely stand-alone operation.
